Marguerite L. “Rita” California, 90, of Warren, PA, died on Monday, May 4, 2026, at the Rouse Home, after a brief illness.

Rita was born September 17, 1935, to the late Dominic and Thelma Natale Matteo.

She resided in Youngsville and Warren, PA. She was a 1953 graduate of Youngsville High School and was employed by Buckaloons Ski Resort and Youngsville Agway.

Rita is survived by one son, Randy California and wife, Dana; one granddaughter, Celia Brant and her children Riley, Gannon and Lennox; one grandson, Zachary California and wife, Laura, and their daughter, Adeline, and one brother, Robert Matteo.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John California, whom she married on June 26, 1954.

There will be no funeral at Rita’s request. Burial will be in St. Joseph RC Cemetery, in Warren, PA.
