Warren trap drops nailbiter to Corry

The Warren High Trap team dropped a crucial home match by just 2 points on Tuesday as they faced a tough Corry Beaver squad. Between raindrops, the Dragons shot their best team score of the year by three targets, but ultimately fell 165-167.

The Beavers impressive score included three perfect scores of 25. Warren junior varsity also lost a close contest, which was their first loss of the season, at 143-145.

“The participation was exceptional, with 40 players from Corry and 38 from Warren,” reported volunteer coach Scott Pearson. “Both teams shot very well, with Warren having 23, and Corry having 21 shooters hit at least 20 targets.”

With one match left, Warren varsity is now sitting at 3-2 overall while Corry is 4-1. Warren junior varsity stands at 4-1 for the season. The Dragons take on Tidioute next Tuesday for their final match of the season, with the Field Day at Corry the following week.

Warren varsity had four shooters with a score of 24: Hayden Lilly, Kolten Sumrow, Cameron Hagg, and Zane Carlson. At 23 was Parker Lauffenberger, Alainah Ginkel, and KC Johnson. Ginkel was the High Lady for the Dragons, which is her season high. The junior varsity action was led by 22 from Colton Clever, followed by 21’s from Matt Franklin, Baylee Mead, and Isaac Georgakis. Carter McKee and Brody Connolly had 20, then Damian Taylor at 18.

Corry was led by 3 perfect scores of 25 from Tyler Coulter, Thomas Sloane, and Gavin Munsee. Patience Sandreth, Max Jewell, Hunter Eckstrom and Aiden Bliss all had 23’s, and Sandreth was the High Lady for the Beavers. Corry junior varsity was led by Mason Huling at 23, followed by Tyler Anderson and Lucas Higby at 22. Porter Allyn had 21, Darren Anderson 20, Dakota Harlow 19, and Caleb Johnson 18.
