Youngsville Borough approves 2019 budget

Residents of Youngsville won’t be paying more in taxes in 2019 but they can expect to pay more for refuse and water.

Youngsville Borough Council unanimously approved a 2019 budget at Monday’s council meeting that maintains taxes at 9 mills.

The millage rate is the amount per $1,000 used to calculate taxes on property. Millage rates are most often found in personal property taxes, where the expressed millage rate is multiplied by the total taxable value of the property to arrive at the property taxes due.

In related action council also approved increasing bills for solid waste by $7 per quarter in 2019. Water bills for Youngsville property owners will increase by $6 per quarter.

Borough Manager Lisa Hagberg expressed gratitude to council members for the hard work done in compiling the budget figures.

Total general fund revenues and expenses are estimated to balance at $847,626.
