Several opportunities to hear live music this week
There are several chance to hear live music this week around the area.
The free Warren Music in the Park concert at 7 p.m. Friday at Soldiers & Sailors Park will feature the Jeff Fetterman Band performing classic rock. The Aug. 5 concert features Route 8 performing a variety of music.
Music in Park in Youngsville from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays is scheduled, but the band is to be determined. The Island Park Summer Music Series is presented by Youngsville Recreation.
Music on the Mountain will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday at Sheffield Area High School. The seventh annual Drum & Bugle Corps event is held on the Sheffield football field. Pre-sale tickets are $13 per adult ($15 at gate) and $10 for children 12 and under ($12 at gate). Tickets can be purchased at Crone’s Drug Store in Warren, Peterson’s Hardware in Sheffield, or at Sheffield Pharmacy. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.smotm.org.

LIBRARY EVENTS
On Wednesday, Rebecca Whitney will hold three separate career development workshops at the Youngsville Public Library.
The first workshop is from noon to 1 p.m. and is an open, walk-in question-and-answer session. Ask personalized questions regarding job searches, PA CareerLink, free job training opportunities or other issues. No registration is needed.
From 1 to 2 p.m. Whitney will lead a session on SkillUP PA, an in-person session. Walk-ins are welcome. SkillUP PA provides access to more than 6,000 free, online skills training courses to help prepare for a new career path, enhance an existing skill-set, and more. Stop in to receive one-on-one assistance on how to sign up for, navigate, and use SkillUP PA.
From 2 to 3 p.m. Whitney will lead “Steps to a Successful Interview.” The workshop is available for in-person, virtual, or by-phone attendance. The workshop does require registration. Children and parents alike were intensely focused while they dissected lima beans at the Youngsville Public Library’s “Plants & Pollinators” program at Island Park on Tuesday. Additional activities included nature stories, nature scavenger hunt, seed investigation, take-home activities and experiment, snack, and planting seeds to take home. There are two more sessions in this free program done in partnership with 4-H on Tuesday, July 26, and Tuesday, Aug. 2, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Island Park in the main pavilion. Target ages 5-18 years, but all welcome. No registration required, programming rain or shine.
Free Snack Program: The Youngsville Library’s seventh annual free snack program (ages 18 and under) will continue through Friday, Aug. 19. Individually packaged snacks are located in the foyer and made available during business hours. Snack options include, but are not limited to: single serve macaroni and cheese; single serve oatmeal with granola and/or fruit and nuts; whole-grain, fruit-filled breakfast bars, and ‘hug-style’ drink bottles. Snacks are being provided in partnership with CHOP organization (Child Hunger Outreach Program).
FUNDRAISING
Today, the the Youngsville Sports Booster will be hosting its Sports Boosters Jubilee at the Youngsville Fire Hall. There will be a cornhole tournament, duck derby, food vendors, children’s carnival, and live entertainment. A parade will be held starting at 3 p.m. today.
