Community Blood Bank announces emergency drive Monday in Warren

Bomb cyclone, polar vortex, and busy lives have made it hard for people to donate blood.

Community Blood Bank is holding an emergency blood drive from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, at Warren General Hospital, to combat a critical shortage.

“Inventory of blood and blood products within the region has reached a critical level,” according to a release from CBB Community Relations Manager Jennifer Brownlee. “The cancellation of area blood drives last week resulted in the loss of 75-plus donors.”

“All blood types are urgently needed,” Brownlee said.

That was on top of 30 percent reduction in turnout since Dec. 26.

The usual monthly drive will be held from noon to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Holy Redeemer Center.

Walk-ins are welcome to both drives and each donor will receive a CBB donor appreciation T-shirt.
