Food Employee Certification Training

Preventing foodborne illness in a food establishment is the focus of the one day ServSafe® Training Course to be presented by Penn State Extension from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, at the Penn State Extension Office in Youngsville.  The ServSafe® exam to follow upon class completion.

The registration fee is $185 per person.  Those who pass the exam at the end of the training receive a certificate from the National Restaurant Association and meet the requirements of the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture for food safety training.  ServSafe® certification is valid for five years.

4-H Robotics Club

Do you know someone who is interested in science, technology, and figuring out how things work? The Warren County 4-H Robotics club enjoys all those things too!

All youth ages 8-18 can learn to design, build and program robots. The club will be working with Junk Drawer Robotics and LEGO robotic kits. There will be an informational/planning meeting on Sunday, January 15 from 3:00-4:30 at the Warren County Penn State Extension office, 100 Dillon Drive, Youngsville. New members and old members are encouraged to attend this first meeting. We will plan out our year, outline the meeting schedule and participate in a hands-on activity.

Paper Embroidery Card Classy

If you enjoy embroidery work but have never heard of or done any embroidery work on paper, now is the time to experience it. Once you are introduced to this craft you will be able to create beautiful cards for special people for special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, etc. These classes will be held monthly, January through May and September through November. Each class will be held on the third Thursday of the month from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Warren Public Library. The first class will be on Thursday, January 19. The cost for each class, which includes all supplies, is $8 (non-refundable) and is due at registration. Sign up at the circulation desk at the library by Wednesday, Jan. 18.

Book Discussion Group

If you are a reader and like to talk about the books you’ve read, you’ll enjoy the Library’s book discussions. The Adult Book Discussion Group normally meets the second Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. in the Jefferson Room at Warren Public Library. The library tries to have sufficient copies of the books chosen available for anyone who needs to borrow one.
