An AARP Smart Driver Full course is being offered at Allegheny Community Center, 42 Clark St., on October 4 & 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. both days. If it’s been more than 3 years or you’ve never taken the course, this is the one for you. If there are 2 drivers in your family, you may both have to complete the full course to qualify for your auto insurance discount. Check with your agent to be sure. The cost for AARP members is $15 per person. Cost for non-members is $20. There’s an additional $2 class cost per student for use of the classroom. Instructor is Larry Jackson. You can still enroll now if you hurry by calling the receptionist at ACC at 723-3237.

Healthy Steps for Older Adults Fall Prevention workshop will be held on Wednesday, October 5 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a break for lunch. This course will raise your awareness of steps you can take to reduce your risk of falls and be able to stay on your feet and remain independent. There’s still time to register by calling the ACC receptionist at 723-4180 ASAP.

Just a reminder that the Sunshine Mixed Bowling League teams compete every Wednesday (unless it’s a holiday) starting at 12:30 p.m. at Riverside Lanes on Ludlow Street in Warren. Spectators are always welcome! Subs are neededsign up by calling Zelda at 406-4216.

Bocce is played on Tuesdays & Thursdays at the Warren Mall from 2 to 3 p.m. This game is good for your joints & muscles. Plus, on Tuesdays, meet us outside the Bon Ton at 1:15 p.m. for a half hour of Mall walking before Bocce.

ACC is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. ACC is closed on legal holidays and on those days when Warren County schools are closed unexpectedly due to bad weather.

The Warren-Forest Area Agency on Aging will serve the following lunch menu at various locations: Allegheny Community Center in Warren, 10/03 thru 10/07: Monday, pepper steak w/peppers, onions & gravy, parsley noodles, baby carrots, applesauce; Tuesday, breaded chicken fillet sandwich, lettuce, tomato, homemade vegetable soup, pineapple & oranges; Wednesday, roasted hot beef w/gravy, baked potato, sweet & sour coleslaw, gelatin with sour cream; Thursday, potato crusted fish, macaroni & cheese, stewed tomatoes, fruit; Friday, hot dog, whipped potatoes, sauerkraut, chocolate brownie; Marienville: Mon., Wed., & Thurs. meals from the ACC lunch schedule; Endeavor: Mon., Tues., & Fri. meals from the ACC lunch schedule; Tidioute: Mon., Tuesday & Thurs. meals from the ACC lunch schedule; Sheffield: Mon., Thurs. & Fri. meals from the ACC lunch schedule.

Eligible participation is 60 years and older with a suggested donation of $3. Call AAA at 723-3763 for info about congregate meal sites or center locations. Menu is subject to change if necessary.
