Youngsville Public Library-Angel donations being accepted

Now through Wednesday, Dec. 22, area residents can become a Youngsville Library-Angel and make a general donation or a donation toward specific daily operating items such as toner, inter-library loan postage costs, youth programming, etc.

Donors can also make donations in memory of or in honor of loved ones. To become a Youngsville Library-Angel stop by the Youngsville Library during business hours or visit out library’s homepage at YoungsvilleLIbrary.org and click on the Library Angel Tree Form link. From the website donors can print and complete a downloadable form that can either be mailed mail to the library or placed in the library’s secure drop-box, which is open 24/7. On the website there is also a listing of library angels specifying if their donations are in honor of or in memory of loved ones. Or, Library Angel donations can be mailed, with or withotu a form, to: Youngsville Public Library, c/o Library Angel Program, 100 Broad St., Youngsville, PA 16371. Please be sure to include the name to be placed on the angel (and if it is in memoriam or in honor of someone). Regular business hours are Mondays and Wednesdays from noon to 6 p.m., Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Friddays from noon to 4 p.m.

A “Library Angel” is placed on the Library-Angel tree with the name of the donor and if the donation was in honor of or in memory of an individual. The Library Angel Tree is on display, at the library, through Wednesday, Dec. 22.

LIBRARY NEWS

A free, in-person “Steps to a Successful Interview” workshop will be held Wednesday, Nov. 17, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Youngsville Library. Registration is required for this workshop. Free Care Giver Burn Out program will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, at the library. Narissa Greenland from LIFE NWPA will be discussing issues that caregivers experience and provide information about how to combat caregiver burn out. She will also have free NWPA “swag bags” and information about NWPA. No registration is necessary, call 844-456-5433 for questions.

LOCAL FUNDRAISERS

The Women’s Club of Warren will hold its club vendor show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today. The club is located at 310 Market St., Warren.Admission to the vendor show is $5 per person (children under 12 admitted free). A complete beef on wick lunch is available for $15 each and available for purchase at the door. The complete lunch is served in the dining from of the Historic Waters Mansion from 11:30 a.m. until gone.

On Saturday, Nov. 20, the Wrightsville Volunteer Fire Department will hold its turkey party and gun giveaway at the Garland Volunteer Fire Department social hall. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and giveaways start at 7 p.m.

YOUNGSVILLE CHRISTMAS EVENT

Luminaries are once again the only fundraiser to help support Youngsville’s annual Old-Fashioned Christmas event, so borough residents are asked to show their support by purchasing luminaries and using them to help “Light the Night’ around outside homes and walkways on Saturday, Dec. 4, from 4 to 6 p.m. Cost is $5 for one set of 10 luminary kits. Each set of 10 include luminary bags, sand and tealight candles. All proceeds go to help fund next year’s event. Pre-order sets of luminaries by contacting Judy Kuzminski at 814-688-8514. Leave the buyer’s name, the number of sets and a contact phone number. Requests can also be emailed to YoungsvilleChristmas@gmail.com. Pre-ordered luminaries can be picked up Tuesday, Nov. 30, at the Youngsville Borough building from 6 to 8 p.m. Call 814-688-8514 with questions.

The second annual Light Up Youngsville event is accepting applications. Enter a home in the Old-Fashioned Christmas’ second annual decorating contest in Youngsville, Pittsfield, and Irvine. Cash prizes will be given to the top three houses picked by the judges. Lights will be judged on Friday, Dec. 3, from 6 to 9 p.m. and winners will be announced directly after the parade during the Christmas Festival on Dec. 4. Those who have decorated their houses are asked to turn on all their Christmas lights on Dec. 4 from 5 to 8 p.m. The committee will comprise a list of addresses to send everyone out to see the lights. Downtown events: 2021’s Old-Fashioned Christmas will mostly be a downtown event this year, from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4. The parade will start at 4 p.m. and will go from IOOF street down East Main Street and turn up Davis Street to loop around to the high school. Anybody interested in joining the parade email their contact info to YoungsvilleChristmas@gmail.com. Downtown there will also be a live nativity, live music, ornament making, petting zoo, and more.
