Dear Editor,
Both parties have vulnerabilities as the midterms draw near.
For the Republicans, it’s the conflict with Iran. This has driven up fuel costs as well
as the cost of products delivered by using fuel. It’s gone on for months. Of course, President Trump has secured the border and reduced crime, but won’t get credit from the left.
Several good things are happening, but their full effect won’t be felt until the conflict is done.
August job creation was three times as much as expected. Financial analyst Larry Kudlow, among others, sees a boom in manufacturing and construction. The Census Bureau just reported an all time high in median household income and an all time low in the poverty rate. This is due in part to tariff deals. But current inflation reduces some of that progress.
While the bureau’s report is good news, it was pointedly ignored by CNN, Politico and MS-Now. Giving Trump credit is against their "religion."
In fairness to Trump, previous administrations "kicked the Iran can down the road." For decades, they were shouting "death to America!" But preventative action was lacking. Between Presidents Obama and Biden, Iran received $17.7 billion in relief, likely used to fund their terror proxies.
The DSA (Democratic Socialists of America) is the Democrats’ problem.
The DSA is so far left that it worries the moderate Democrats. It’s conceivable that some will withhold their votes or secretly vote Republican.
Here are just a few of their dangerous goals.
Abolish the Senate. States are allowed a seat in the House of Representatives for every 760,000 citizens. California has 51 and Wyoming has one. But each state has two senators. This prevents the most populated states from running roughshod over the others.
Abolish the presidency and the Supreme Court. Executive and judicial matters would be under the control of a committee directed by the now all-powerful House. The "balance of power" created by the Founding Fathers would be gone.
I assume there’s some overlap between DSA members and ‘No Kings’ protesters. The latter, in voice and print, accuse Trump of being a dictator. A dictator wouldn’t have to work around left-leaning federal judges appointed by Obama and Biden. Also, an all-powerful house could be a collection of dictators. Their sophomoric messages continue.
Some DSA "stars" want to abolish the police, prisons and deportations.
This is a recipe for anarchy. A criminal could commit a heinous crime with no fear of legal consequences. But consequences could be imposed by the family of the victim.
They could find the offender and impose a vigilante execution.
With no deportations, we’d be back to the Biden-style border. Thousands of migrants, mostly young men of military age, crossing daily. Some are violent criminals. Some mean well, but will overload our schools and municipalities. The progressives will give them assistance that should be going to homeless and disabled veterans.
I won’t get into their reckless economics here. Some columnists have addressed it and this letter is long enough.
In spite of the vulnerabilities on both sides, the DSA and compliant moderates are the far greater threat.

Dear Editor,
What's wrong with this picture?
You make over $2.2 billion in a year and only pay $800 in income tax. The solution to this follows: No tax write offs, no exemptions. Everyone would pay approximately half of 1 percent of their gross income. The national debt could be paid off in one year. Unfortunately, the people who run this country would never agree to this solution.
I haven't voted once since 1968 because there are no good choices anymore. Kamala Harris or Donald Trump: one not qualified, the other a power hungry dictator who has the whole world hating us. Ridiculous tariffs, Iran War, demolishing the White House for his party room, $7 million fishing pond all resulting in higher costs to us -- the real tax payers -- for our everyday needs.
Social Security is going broke and he wastes money on his pet projects. Too bad our politicians can't play well together. This whole system needs purging. And oh, don't forget the measles outbreak. Thanks Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Dear Editor,
The Warren community is so special! What makes it special? The people. We have so many individuals who do “the little things” that bring joy and happiness to others.
One of those special people is Mark Evans. Mark is a photographer and can be seen at many local high school sporting events.
He uses his own equipment and gives countless hours of his time to capture the special athletic moments of our youth. Mark posts his beautiful pictures, which often include amazing action shots, on social media for the athletes, parents, and community to enjoy. Recently, Mark took pictures at a soccer game at War Memorial Field and then took pictures of a volleyball game at Warren Area High School -- all on the same evening!
Mark, I know I speak for many in the community when I say, “Thank you!” Please know how much we appreciate you.
