Janice Jane (Holcomb) Thompson

Janice Jane (Holcomb) Thompson, 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at Warren General Hospital, with family and friends by her side.

She was born the daughter of the late Clayton “Bill” and Frances Holcomb on March 4, 1934. Janice was a graduate of Youngsville High School class of 1951. After graduation, she was a cook at the Grand Valley School, then an aid at the Rouse Home and then she obtained her RN degree from JCC. She worked at the Rouse, Warren General Hospital, and the Warren State Hospital where she retired. She will be remembered as a dedicated, loving and caring woman of faith. She had many hobbies including: knitting, crocheting, playing cards, ceramics, cats, canning, cooking, drinking coffee and bird watching on her porch. Janice was a member of the Red Hat Society, Antiques Study Club, and the Garland Presbyterian Church.

Janice is survived by her loving children Arthur (Esther) Thompson of Torpedo, PA., Patricia (Tom) Battko of Garland, PA., William Thompson of Garland,PA., Waid (Lynne) Thompson of Hampstead, NC., and Jannet Bowen of Garland, PA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Heather (Don) Sitter, Amy Thompson, Benjamin (Carrie) Thompson, Michael Thompson, Steven Battko, Nickole (Todd) Hinkle, Danelle (Steven) Depasquale, Drew Thompson, Gage Thompson, Jason (Leah) Krautter, Aime (Tony) Babo, Clayton Thompson, and Jennifer (Josh) Nordin. She was also blessed with 22 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Maxine and Anita; and grandson Chad.

Friends and family will be received on Sunday, August 27th, at the Pittsfield Otterbein Church from 4-7pm, and then Monday, August 28th from 10-12pm where a funeral service will be held there. Private burial will follow.

Memorial donations may be made in Janice’s name to the Garland Volunteer Fire Dept.
