Eisenhower looked to be on its way to another Region 3 win Wednesday as the Knights held a 3-2 lead over Cambridge Springs heading into the sixth inning. Things suddenly unraveled at that point as the Blue Devils walked six times (including two HBP) and picked up four hits en route to an 8-run inning and 10-3 win over the Knights. “This was just a killer loss,” Eisenhower assistant coach Rick Rohlin said. “They’re a solid team and we were up 3-2 going into the sixth inning. COCHRANTON – Eisenhower ran into a powerful Cochranton squad on Wednesday, dropping a 16-1 decision to their Region 3 counterparts. The Lady Cardinals scored 11 runs in the first inning en route to the win, with Brooke Culbertson belting a home run, while Kayla Freyermuth was 2-for-2 with a double, Shealeigh Keller 3-for-3 with two doubles and Mackenzie Freyermuth 2-for-2 with a double. Ike girls sweep Smethport, DCC to open season

SMETHPORT – The Eisenhower girls track and field team started the season off strong, earning a pair of dominating non-region wins over Smethport (109-40) and DuBois Central Catholic (113-38). The boys, meanwhile, beat DCC 101.5-39.5 and fell to Smethport 93-57. TerryLee Talasky and Delaney Nizzi helped lead the way. Both teamed with Caroline Smelko and Aleea Giese to win the 4x400 relay, while Talasky swept the 100, 200 and 400 and Nizzi the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles, both easily qualifying for districts in all of those events.
