Ike girls sweep Smethport, DCC to open season

SMETHPORT – The Eisenhower girls track and field team started the season off strong, earning a pair of dominating non-region wins over Smethport (109-40) and DuBois Central Catholic (113-38). The boys, meanwhile, beat DCC 101.5-39.5 and fell to Smethport 93-57. TerryLee Talasky and Delaney Nizzi helped lead the way. Both teamed with Caroline Smelko and Aleea Giese to win the 4x400 relay, while Talasky swept the 100, 200 and 400 and Nizzi the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles, both easily qualifying for districts in all of those events.
