Lady Knights, Eagles drop Region 3 contests

COCHRANTON – Eisenhower ran into a powerful Cochranton squad on Wednesday, dropping a 16-1 decision to their Region 3 counterparts.

The Lady Cardinals scored 11 runs in the first inning en route to the win, with Brooke Culbertson belting a home run, while Kayla Freyermuth was 2-for-2 with a double, Shealeigh Keller 3-for-3 with two doubles and Mackenzie Freyermuth 2-for-2 with a double.

Megan Wright was the winning pitcher, while Alexis Courtney pitched for Eisenhower.

The Lady Knights’ Shelby Kuzminski and Miranda Garris reached via walk with no outs in the second inning and promptly pulled off a double steal. Brittany Smith hit a hot shot to third that scored Kuzminski to bring home Ike’s run.

“I was excited, with two runners on and no outs,” said Eisenhower coach Mike English. “We just have to get the bat on the ball. We’re coming.”

The Lady Knights are scheduled to play Saegertown today (weather permitting), with a date at county rival Youngsville on Friday.
