Egger has big game, but Warren falls to Girard 42-21
Aiden Egger rushed for a career-high 183 yards on 26 carries and scored three touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough as the Warren football team dropped to 1-5 on the season after Friday’s 42-21 loss to Girard at War Memorial Field.
After a scoreless first quarter, Warren struck first in the second quarter on Egger’s 44-yard touchdown run. Charlie Blum made the extra point. Girard immediately answered, taking the kickoff 83 yards to tie it up. The Yellowjackets got the ball shortly after and scored on a 42-yard run to take the lead, 14-7.
At halftime, Girard was up 35-7 and then it returned the second-half kickoff to push the lead to 42-7.
With 8:20 remaining in the third quarter, Egger scored his second touchdown on a 6-yard run. Blum’s extra point was blocked. Egger scored for a third time with 53 seconds left in the game. Ayden Corbett ran in the 2-point conversion.
Warren had 302 total yards of offense with quarterback Parker Kiser going 5 of 15 for 93 yards and an interception. Tomasso Clemente had one catch for 37 yards, Blum totaled three catches for 52 yards, and Egger had one catch for 4 yards.
Ayden Corbett ran three times for 13 yards, and Kiser rushed for 10 yards on three carries.
The Dragons host General McLane next Friday at 7 p.m. at War Memorial Field. It will be their homecoming game.
