Warren falls to 0-9 Monday
ERIE — McDowell’s baseball team scored five runs in the fourth inning en route to a 9-0 Region 6 win Monday over visiting Warren.
McDowell (9-3 overall) is in first place in the region at 7-1. The Trojans swept the season series with Warren, which fell to 0-9 overall and 0-5 in Region 6.
The Dragons played errorless ball on defense, but McDowell had 10 hits (four for extra bases) and took advantage of three walks and five hit batters.
Senior Evan Stranko had two doubles and two RBIs for McDowell, which beat Warren 16-0 11 days ago, and senior teammate Quinton Orlando added a double and three RBIs in the win.
Freshman Gabe Thibodeaux had his first varsity hit for the Dragons. Warren was held to two hits — the other by Brady Shene — by McDowell senior pitcher Ethan Bechtold, who struck out 10 and walked two over five shutout innings.
Eli Snyder threw 5 2/3 innings for Warren, striking out five.
