YOUNGSVILLE — Youngsville hung around for a while, but the visiting Cambridge Springs Blue Devils pulled away in the second half of a 56-17 Region 2 victory over the Eagles on Monday at Youngsville High School.

The Blue Devils stormed out of the gate, scoring the first 10 points of the night. Youngsville pulled back within four with a 6-0 run of its own highlighted by two buckets from Riley Robinault and another from Kaylee Lauffenburger.

Youngsville appeared to have pulled even closer when Robinault hit a bank-shot 3-pointer at the buzzer of the first quarter that would’ve made it 12-9. The bucket was waved off despite there appearing to still be time on the scoreboard when the shot left her hand.

The second quarter played out much like the opening quarter with the Blue Devils getting the first run — an 11-0 burst — before another quick six points from the Eagles. Robinault scored a field goal, and two free throws and Maiah Konen-Smith also hit a jumper that made it 23-12 late in the first half.

The Blue Devils quickly regained momentum before the half when senior Payton Leandro hit a 3-pointer that narrowly beat the buzzer.

The momentum from that shot carried into the second half where Cambridge Springs used a 20-1 advantage in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.

Robinault led Youngsville with 13 points, while Sydney Zilhaver and Leandro scored 20 points apiece for Cambridge Springs.

Youngsville (2-19) concludes its season on Thursday when it welcomes Cochranton for the planned final home varsity contest in the Youngsville High School gym.
