Robert (Bob) Maurice Green, 89, of Pittsfield, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at Warren General Hospital.
Bob was born on March 16, 1936, in Erie, PA, to the late Marguerite and Maurice “Jack” Green.
Bob attended school in Erie. He joined the ROTC while attending Gannon University. He served in the Army at Fort Sill, Oklahoma in the artillery division. In the early 1960’s he entered the Army reserves, where he specialized in marksmanship and marksmanship training, which included the marksmanship training portion of the Olympic biathlon. He was awarded many prestigious medals and awards during this time. He retired with the rank, lieutenant Colonel.
He moved to Youngsville in 1961 and pursued his vocation of teaching, specializing in general science and biology, and as many know, ended up as the chemistry teacher at Youngsville High School for 33 years. Teaching was his passion and he was well known for it. He was also involved in many extracurricular activities, such as National Honor Society, Photo Club, substitute coach for basketball, Hunter Safety training, assisting and tutoring any student that would ask.
Bob was well known as a serious outdoor enthusiast. He absolutely loved hunting, fishing, boating, gardening, and thoroughly appreciated just about anything outdoors. He and his family loved to travel, and the military helped facilitate covering most of Eastern United States.
He was definitely known as a family man, and very much invested himself in the lives of his three children and much of the rest of the children in the neighborhood, he very much enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and was thrilled to spend time with his great grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife Carolyn, better known as Callie.
He is survived by his sister Marilyn Tracy, his three children Elizabeth “Lisa” Anderson of Pittsfield, Scott and Kathy Green of Pittsfield, and Kevin Green of Erie.
Grandchildren Tyler and Fatima, Emmalee, Jessica, Matthew and Sarah and great grandchildren Logan and Lucas, and Eleanor and Margaret, and nieces Alison and Meredith.
A Celebration of Life will be held at New Life Church located at 18 Second Street, Youngsville, Pennsylvania on Saturday, April 18, visitation at 10AM and service to start at 11AM, with Pastor Jeff Canter officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the New Life Church, 18 Second Street, Youngsville, PA 16371.
The Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Youngsville has been entrusted with all arrangements.
