RUSSELL — The Eisenhower volleyball team played its second match in as many days, but after defeating Moniteau on Monday night, the Knights fell to Saegertown 24 hours later 25-14, 25-20, 25-14 in Region 2 play.

The Knights were led by Marissa Gourley with nine kills, three aces and a 2.3 serve-return rating. Caroline Smyth added six kills, an ace and three blocks; Lainey Font had seven kills and an ace; and Paisley Lawson added four kills and a 2.1 serve-receive ratio.

“Saegertown is a tough, athletic team and has a nice group of athletes,” Eisenhower head coach Lori Pascuzzi said. “They are a team that is hard to match up against for us. They have a height advantage that made it difficult for us to stop their offense. We had good coverage, but just couldn’t stop their middle attack.”

The Knights close out their regular season Thursday when they travel to Sheffield for a cross-county matchup.

“I’m really proud of our team,” Pascuzzi said. “These girls improved greatly over the course of the season. They have a never-say-die attitude and play hard to the final point. The team is looking forward to playing Sheffield in the season finale. It should be a great atmosphere and I’m sure it will be a highly competitive game.”

Starting at $3.50/week.
