Tarp Skunks’ win streak snapped
NIAGARA FALLS — Jamestown saw its modest two-game winning streak come to an end Thursday night when it fell to Niagara Falls 8-1 in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League game before 1,119 fans at Sal Maglie Stadium.
Three Americans’ pitchers combined on a three-hitter, with starter Mike Ribis III earning the win after hurling five innings and allowing just one hit.
Niagara Falls (5-9), which led 3-1 after four innings, broke the game open in the fifth with four runs.
Tarp Skunks’ starter Benjamin Escobar (0-2) took the loss, the first of four Jamestown pitchers.
Leading the way for the Americans were Gavyn Boyle and Miles Oo (two RBIs) with two hits apiece, Chris Kramer with a base hit and three RBIs and Jake Hollins with a base hit and two RBIs.
Jamestown (6-8) scored its lone run in the fourth inning, courtesy of a DJ Stoianovich sacrifice fly. Bobby Stang collected a pair of hits to raise his batting average to .354.
The Tarp Skunks will be back in action tonight when they take on Auburn at Diethrick Park. First pitch is 6:30 p.m.
