Junior high track

Beaty Warren Middle School eighth-grader Cole Fitzgerald won the 3,200-meter run on Saturday at the 35th annual Johnsonburg Junior High Track Invitational.

Fitzgerald won in 11:31 and teammate Grayson Collopy was third out of 13 runners.

Other Beaty boys highlights included: Kahle Kuzminski second and Mason Warner seventh out of 35 in the 200-meter dash; Leyton Salvatore third, Grant Newton sixth and Warner seventh out of 26 in the 800, and Salvatore third out of 17 in the 1,600. Salvatore was also second in pole vault; Ayden Corbett was sixth and Noah Hill seventh out of 18 in high jump; and Corbett was fourth of 25 in long jump.

For Sheffield, Alex VanGelder finished second out of 33 discus throwers, and 11th out of 32 in shot put.

For the Lady Dragons, Lexi Gulnac was fourth and Ava Wymer fifth in the 100-meter dash final, and Wymer was third in both the 100 hurdles and high jump (with four girls all jumping 4 feet, 4 inches); Michaela Dolan was ninth out of 33 in the 200; Starrlin Slack second in the 300 hurdles; Hailey Cabisca was fifth of 26 in long jump (and Sheffield’s Kaelon Connolly seventh); Adelaide Keeports was seventh of 23 in triple jump and seventh of 33 in shot; and was fifth out of 32 in discus.

Also for Sheffield, Quinn Winslow was fourth both in discus and shot put.

Youth softball

Led by the offense of Laykin Young and Lainey Kitchell, and the three runs scored by Elodie Criswell, Pine Grove Auto Sales won its first game of the season, downing Hillview Towing 12-7.

Grace Jespersen and Lydia Pannell paced Hillview Towing.

Allegheny Oil and Lube edged Warren Overhead Door 10-9.

Winning pitcher Bristol Holden belted a two-run double and Evalyn Romanosky pitched a scoreless inning

Jessa Joseph had a double and Lily Lucia added a two-run single and pitched a scoreless inning for Warren Overhead Door.

Youth baseball

Evan Wilcox belted a triple, Blake McCaslin had a double and Glade Rulander, Cameron Briggs and Kamden West each had a single to lead Dyke’s Garage to a 10-8 win over Calvert Pearson Insurance Group.

Grayson Zappel smacked a triple and Grant Criswell scored twice for Calvert Pearson.
