Warren’s boys basketball team won its first District 10 title since 1983 so the individual accolades were bound to follow. This week, Warren seniors Tommy Nyquist, Brady Berdine and Braylon Barnes were named Region 6 all-stars by a vote of the region’s coaches.

Nyquist, who averaged 9.4 points and 5.8 assists as a four-year starting point guard for the 20-6 Dragons, and Berdine, averaging 17.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals, were named to the all-region first team. Barnes, who averaged 15.1 points and 4.5 rebounds, was named to the Region 6 second team.

“Great to see these three seniors recognized for their outstanding seasons,” said Warren coach Jeff Berdine. “Brady had a tremendous senior season as evidenced by his points per game, rebounds, steals and assists. He was a real stat-sheet stuffer this year. His first-team all-region award and his selection as a first-team all District 10 YDL Sports Network award back that up. Braylon really upped his game this year and his improved 3-point shooting and all-around shot-making ability really helped us win a lot of games this year and a D10 title. His dedication paid off. Tommy was the best defensive player in D10 this year, guarding everyone’s best player, couple that with his ball handling, playmaking and elite passing skills makes for a repeat first team award for him. Going to be hard to replace these three guys, but I know I have some returning players ready to take on that challenge.”
