YOUNGSVILLE — It may be early in the season, but the track & field stars from Youngsville and Eisenhower are wasting little time in showing what they can do.

The two county rivals met Tuesday with the Knights coming away with a sweep, winning 71-60 in the boys contest and 81-58 in the girls meet.

Joe Gigliotti was a three-time winner for the Knights, winning the 400 and 3,200-meter relay individually as well as joining Max Enos, Easton Fitzgerald and Joe Mistretta to win the 3,200 relay. Fitzgerald also was a member of the winning 400 relay team with Ryan Chambers, Casey Seymour and Bryceton Wilkins.

Chambers added a 200-meter win in 26.1 seconds, Seymour was the winner in the long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 3 inches, Joel Sorrell won the shot put with a throw of 36 feet, 11 inches and Seth Jensen won the discus with a toss of 97 feet.

The Eagles had plenty of impressive performances of their own in the first meet of their season.

Freshman Chase Myers was a three-time winner, taking first in the 110 hurdles (18.4 seconds), 300 hurdles (47.4 seconds) and the javelin (113 feet, 5 inches).

Teammate Ethan Beers blazed to victory in the 100 with a run of 12.6 seconds and also scored field wins in the triple jump (39 feet, 4 3/4 inches) and high jump (five feet, nine inches). Michael Bojaczko was a two-time winner for Youngsville with firsts in the 800 (2:17) and 1600 (5:08).

On the girls side, the Knights used the strength of three relay victories to earn a win over the Eagles. That included the 3200 relay team of Emily Grosch, Izzy Grosch, Peyton Kellogg and Lexi Scholar. Grosch added a winning run of 3:18 in the 800 and Scholar was the winner in the girls 400-meter dash.

Freshman Marissa Gourley was a two-time winner on Tuesday, sweeping the hurdles events. Gourley won the 100 hurdles in 19.5 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 58.7 seconds.

Rounding out the Knights’ winners were the field trio of Rosalie Rondeau (triple jump), Maddie Morrison (discus) and Kaliann Waite (javelin).

While coming up short in the team scores, the Lady Eagles had several impressive performances across the board, including a school record tying high jump from Riley Robinault who cleared five feet, two inches in matching a mark that had stood since 1981.

For good measure, Robinault added victories in the 100, 200 and long jump as well.

Cassidy Britton won both the 1600 in 6:27 and the 3200 in 13:58 and freshman Sarah Blauser earned her first varsity win with a throw of 27 feet, three inches in the shot put.

Youngsville returns to action Saturday when it competes in the Fort LeBoeuf Invitational in Waterford.
