UNION CITY — The Eisenhower Knights, playing their third game in three days Wednesday at Union City, dropped a 7-0 Region 3 decision to the Bears.

The Knights put two men on base to lead the game off on a Johnny Palmieri walk and a single by Caleb Jakubczak, but could not get either player across the plate.

The Bears put up two runs in their half of the first on two errors by the Knights and an RBI single by Luke Wright.

Neither team could generate a hit in the second inning, but the Knights would start the third inning with a deep double by senior Shawn Pascuzzi, who would be stranded.

Union City would add a pair of runs in its half of the third when Wright singled before stealing second and third base. He would score on Aiden Shuman’s hard hit to the Eisenhower infield, and he would be safe at first base on a high throw. Schuman would be driven in by Ian Kinney’s single as the Bears doubled their lead to 4-0.

Eisenhower senior Cole Kellogg would start out the fourth inning with a beautiful bunt down the third-base line. Kellogg would advance to second base on a fielder’s choice by Griffin Williams. The Knights once again could not get the runner in as Kellogg would be stranded on base at the end of the inning.

Three errors and a walk would bring in a run for the Bears in the fourth inning along with a single by Shuman that would bring in the final two runs.

Derek Childs went the distance for the Knights on the hill and took the loss. The Knights were led by Kellogg, who was 3 for 3; and Caleb Jakubczak, who was 2 for 3; while Shawn Pascuzzi and Ayden Nichols had doubles.

Eisenhower travels to Saegertown Friday to face the Panthers.
