Three Dragons medal at states
READING — Warren freshman Ethen Ringer finished fourth, junior Adika Fiscus fifth and freshman Trey Carrington eighth at this weekend’s Keystone State Wrestling Championships at Santander Arena.
Ringer went 3-2 at 136 pounds in the 15-16 Boys Division, “and took first at the qualifier,” said WAHS head coach Glenn Baldensperger. “Adika went 4-3 (at 15-16, 124 pounds); he qualified last month by taking second in Erie. Trey also was first at the qualifier. He was 2-3 (in Reading at 13-14, 126) after a first-round bye.”
After a 4-1 loss in the semifinals to eventual-champion Logan Maurer of Cumberland Valley, Ringer was eventually defeated by Hazleton’s Simon Zamudio in the third-place match.
Fiscus won two via technical fall to start before a 1-0 decision loss in the quarterfinals to Meyersdale’s Brennan Schaefer. Fiscus won two more before falling a match short of the third-place match. He then decisioned Schardt 3-2 for fifth.
Carrington’s first loss was 2-1 to Central Dauphin’s Hans Gilfoil. After a 5-3 decision win over Millcreek’s Graeson Harris, he lost two decisions — the last a 2-0 decision to Norwin’s Nate Klingensmith in the seventh-place match.
