PA boys, girls win Big 30 Classic hoops games

PORTVILLE, N.Y. — Warren senior Brady Berdine had a game-high 27 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists, and Tommy Nyquist added 8 assists and 4 steals, in Team Pennsylvania’s 135-70 boys win over New York on Sunday in the 10th Annual Big 30 Senior Classic at Portville High School.

The PA boys capped a sweep for Pennsylvania with the PA girls also winning over New York for the first time since 2017.

Warren seniors Halle Kuzminski and Sammie Ruhlman helped lead PA to an 84-66 win in the girls game, also on Sunday at Portville High School. Kuzminski had 6 points and 6 rebounds and Ruhlman 2 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.

The games — sponsored by the Big 30 Athletic Corporation — pit 12 graduating seniors from Pennsylvania Big 30 schools against their New York counterparts (similar to but different than the Big 30 football charities game that recently celebrated its 50-year anniversary).
