Local powerlifters find success at ‘Beast of the Northeast’

Powerlifters from S&C Powerplant and Tanning, located on Liberty Street in Warren, competed and found success at the Carl Seeker’s 2024 Beast of the Northeast.

The event hosted 92 Xtreme Performance and Strength-sanctioned and unsanctioned lifters, as well as more than 160 spectators at the Allegany Community Center in Salamanca, New York. The event boasted a record number of female competitors, with 22 lifters, as well as including special needs lifters for the first time.

Sheffield Area High School freshman Madison Snell made her debut on the platform and put up 120 pounds on bench and lifted 250 pounds in deadlift, taking first place in her division and shattering XPS records. Beaty-Warren Middle School student Areina Smith bench-pressed 60 pounds raw and deadlifted 115 pounds, both of which were personal records, while also taking first place in her division.

Teagan Paris came back to join her fellow teammates and was able to deadlift 265 pounds, taking first place in her division. Michele Pritzl also took home first place, competing in equipped, putting up an easy 275 pounds on bench press, which was also a personal record.

The final first-place finisher, Buster Godden, who set a new sanctioned personal record, deadlifting 295 pounds.
