Warren’s swim team came two points away from a sweep on Senior Night, Thursday against Mercyhurst Prep at the Warren YMCA.
The Lady Dragons won 136-26 and Warren’s two male swimmers lost by one point.
Warren also honored two seniors — Eliza Brook and Hugh Harrison, former multiple-time District 10 champion and state medalist who is missing his senior season due to injury.
“Two well-respected and hard working individuals,” said Warren coach Russ Beyer. “They approach their academics, their athletics, and their lives the right way. Once they put their minds to something, they won’t cease until success has been achieved.”
Harrison earned second- and fourth-place finishes at states as a junior, and set 15 team records in his three-year high school career. His career isn’t over by a long shot as he has dreams to “make the U.S. Olympic Swim Trials in 2028,” he said.

“I think that goal is well calculated and achievable,” said Beyer. “Hugh understands what that means and what it will take to make it. I know he will go in 2028, and I will be there to watch.”
Brook, in her 13th year of swimming, dropped three seconds in the 100-meter freestyle leadoff leg of the 400-meter freestyle relay, and was second — in her first year of diving — on Thursday.
“All Senior Nights are special and tonight was no different,” said Beyer. “The underclassmen wanted to send Hugh and Eliza out on top. Everyone was extra pumped up to perform their best.
“Lexi Paris, Leyna Irwin, Sam Caudill, Katie Krogler, and Emma Peterson had an outstanding night,” added Beyer, “as did Drake Niemetz and Brody Alexander. Brody dropped 5 seconds in the 200 free — an impressive feat.”
Niemetz finished first in the 50-meter freestyle in 26.72, and first in the 400-meter freestyle in 4:44.98. Alexander was first in the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:22.85, and second by .21 seconds in the 200-meter freestyle in 2:24.80.
For the Lady Dragons, winners included Caudill in the 200-meter freestyle (2:29.05) and 100-meter breaststroke (1:27.54); Peterson in the 200-meter individual medley (2:54.59) and 400-meter freestyle (5:15.94); Lilly Newton in the 50-meter freestyle (30.34); Gracie Page in diving (204.55 points); Jennifer Giger in the 100-meter butterfly (1:25.31); Krogler in the 100-meter freestyle (1:10.16); and Madeline Walker in the 100-meter backstroke (1:18.08). The 200-meter medley, 200-meter freestyle and 400-meter freestyle relay teams also took firsts.
