Mancuso’s pin highlights Youngsville’s wrestling victory
YOUNGSVILLE — Youngsville standout Aidan Mancuso returned to the lineup for the Eagles on Wednesday, helping the Eagles to a 33-24 dual match wrestling victory over Seneca at Youngsville High School.
Mancuso wrestled at 189 pounds and used almost all of the time he had before pinning the Bobcats’ Julian Lamp. Teammate Connor Minnis added Youngsville’s second win of the night with a tight 7-4 decision over Seneca’s Clayton Goodman at heavyweight. In doing so, Minnis was able to avenge an earlier season loss to Goodman.
“It was nice to see Aidan back out on the mat again, and Connor kept everyone on the edge of their seats during his match,” said Youngsville coach David Myers.
Youngsville also benefitted from four forfeit victories during the match as Cole Johnson (127 pounds), Michael Carnahan (133), Carsyn Branstrom (152) and Sarah Blauser (121) all won without breaking a sweat.
“We’re satisfied with how we wrestled this evening,” added Myers. “It’s difficult to be in the position we’ve been in most of the season with the injuries we’ve endured. Right now, we’re just starting to get everyone healthy and down to weight. Hopefully we can get stronger as we go into these last few weeks before the postseason.”
Youngsville returns to action this weekend, competing in the Mercer VFW Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
