RUSSELL — The Eisenhower Knights and Warren Dragons squared off Tuesday night for county bragging rights in wrestling with Warren leaving the Eisenhower gymnasium with a 44-27 victory.
The two county rivals have created the annual White Out/Pin Cancer event in memory of two longtime wrestling coaches, Dean Johnson and Joe Letko, who bravely battled cancer.
This year’s event was sponsored by the Kinzua Wrestling Club. All proceeds from the event are kept local and donated to the Warren Cancer Center. In the history of this event, it has raised and donated over $10,000.
The match started off with four straight Warren wins as Ryan Fitzsimmons (121 pounds) won a close match over the Knights’ Griffin Williams 4-1. Trey Carrington (127 pounds) followed that up by getting a first-period pin over Nakita Nelson. The Dragons won at 133 pounds via forfeit, followed by an Ethan Ringer (139 pounds) second-period pin over Tanner Lookenhouse to go up 20-3.
Eisenhower’s Derek Childs (145 pounds) put the knights on the scoreboard when he got an 8-1 decision win over Conner Zaffino. Teammate Cole Kellogg (152 pounds) earned a hard-fought second-period pin over Ryan Letko. At 160 pounds, the Knights’ Tucker Lindell pinned the Dragons’ Colby Zinger at the 1:26 mark of the first period.

The lead was short-lived as the Dragons got back-to-back pins by Damien Sanchez (189 pounds) and Izaya Conklin (215 pounds).
At 295 pounds, Warren’s Joe Krall pinned Eisenhower’s JJ Darr in 5:20.
The Knights won via forfeit at 114 pounds and in the final bout of the night, the Dragons’ Adika Fiscus earned a pin over Eisenhower’s Bryn Lindell.
