The Knight’s Ryan Chambers rushed for 156 yards and two touchdowns on just three carries including a 70-yard touchdown run on the first play of the game to lead Eisenhower to a convincing 48-6 road win over Saegertown on Saturday night.
Chambers’ run was followed by Eisenhower senior tight end and holder, Kris Bunk completing his first career pass for the two-point score. Bunk got an errant snap on the PAT kick attempt, stood tall and found an open Camron Jakubczak in the end zone for the two point conversion, to make the score 8-0.
The Knights would rush for 413 yards in the game on 37 carries, were led by Chambers (3-156, 2 touchdowns), senior Tucker Lindell added 112 yards on 11 carries and a touchdown and sophomore Logan Penley had 11 carries for 67 yards and a pair of touchdown runs.
The Knights led 28-0 at halftime and needed just 1:35 into the third quarter to add to their score and move the game clock into the mercy rule. Senior quarterback Shawn Pascuzzi would find an open Bunk for a 33-yard touchdown pass. Kellog, who was 4-5 on the night in PAT kicks, was good on the PAT kick to make it 35-0.
Penley would add a 1-yard touchdown run and Aiden Nichols would score on an 18-yard run to close out the third quarter to close out the Knights scoring and make it 48-0. Eisenhower’s bid for a shutout ended when Saegertown’s Aaron Shartle scored with two minutes remaining on a 4-yard touchdown run. The two-point conversion attempt failed to make the final score 48-6 in favor of the Knights.
Eisenhower head coach Jim Penley,
“Considering the weather conditions I thought we played very sound football,” Eisenhower head coach Jim Penley stated. “We had to make some adjustments to the line that worked out well for us, we were able to control the line of scrimmage which allowed us to run the ball extremely well. All three of our backs ran the ball hard and protected the football. Chambers really showed his explosiveness and had a breakout night. Defensively, I thought we improved by getting two starters back healthy. I was glad to get the opportunity to work in and get a look at some of our younger players. Hopefully we can continue to learn from this game and improve as we go down the straightaway towards the playoffs.”
