Warren boys power past Saegertown

SAEGERTOWN — Warren’s boys soccer team won its second straight, starting quickly and defeating Saegertown 5-1 on Saturday in a Region 4 road contest.

Jack Chapman’s two goals led the way as the Dragons (2-3 overall and 1-1 in the region) outscored the hosts 5-0 in the first half.

“We were really happy with the energy we got from our bench,” said Warren coach Steffen Blair. “Marc Lewis provided a huge spark for us and put a lot of pressure on their back line. Grady (Corey), Dom (Holmberg) and Jack (Napolitan) took charge of the back line and had really strong performances. It was a full team effort.”

Lewis, Gavin Rex and Casey Rich added goals for Warren, and Chapman, Rex, Finn Ordiway and Trey Carrington had assists in the win.

“Every game is an opportunity to learn and develop,” said Blair. “We’re always going to compete, but it’s not just about the scoreline; it’s about building good habits, improving chemistry and developing as a unit. Our goal is to maintain this level of performance and continue to grow as a team.”

Adon Maier was goalie in a shutout first half, and Jack Lynds had two saves in goal in the second half. Defensively, Dakota Sliter had eight steals for the Dragons and teammate Chase Sitler added seven.

Saegertown is 0-2 in the region.
