Sheffield volleyball downs Brockway 3-1

BROCKWAY — The Wolverines moved to 9-1 on the year with a 3-1 win over Brockway on the road Thursday night (25-19, 25-17, 22-25, 25-20).

“We feel a target on our backs now from all the league teams that we have beaten and now have to play the second time through,” said Sheffield Head Coach Melissa Lemay.

Kadence Steffan had 33 assists, while Kassidy Orinko had 25 digs, 15 kills, and six blocks. Emily Davidson followed Orinko with 23 digs and 12 kills.

“We were a little flat out of the gate in the third set, and we let Brockway take advantage of that,” said Lemay about the one lost set. “They have the best libero in District 9, and we were having a hard time finishing and finding the floor.”

Lemay was pleased the Wolverines didn’t let that one loss dictate the final outcome of a night where Sheffield had 104 digs.

“We battled through set four to get the win,” said Lemay. “Brockway has a nice program, and they were swinging and tipping.”

Junior varsity lost 3-0 (20-25, 25-13, 10-15). Lily Benton had 11 assists. Madison Hackley had 6 digs.

Starting at $3.50/week.
