MEADVILLE — Braddock Damore shot a blistering 18-hole 68 and the Warren’s boys golf team shot an equally impressive four-person 307 to win the 27-team Meadville Invitational on Tuesday at The Country Club of Meadville.
The individual tourney champ, Damore’s season-low 68 tied the tournament record at the same course that will host the District 10 3A Championship on Oct. 2-3.
The Dragons also shot a season-low as a team with their 307, besting Monday’s 314 at their home course of Blueberry Hill. Warren is guaranteed to play for the D10 team title on Oct. 2 with the second team (McDowell or Cathedral Prep) to be determined by Thursday’s final Region 6 Mega Match in Corry.
Brady Berdine shot a 77 and Reid Olsen and Conner Zaffino 81 each to support Damore’s 68. Johnny Palmieri added an 18-hole 85 on Tuesday for the Region 6 champions.
“Well, today felt really good to pull off my second bogeyless round of my high school season and career,” said Damore, “especially since it was at the course we play for districts. I am super pumped about it and I’m glad to see my game heading in the right direction as my dad and I have been working hard on my swing the past week and it is showing a lot of improvement.
“I’m also excited to be going into districts on that note because the team just beat our season low of 314 with a 307 today and we are very capable of going even lower,” added Damore, “but I think what is best for our team is to forget about today and get back on the grind as there is a lot we can improve on heading into districts.”
