The Great Lakes Junior Golf Tour, an organization offering summer competitive golf to boys and girls golfers ages 10 to 19, is coming to Warren County.
Led by former Cathedral Prep high school coach Jay Willow, the GLJGT has been in existence in its current or related form for over 10 years.
“In my time coaching at Prep, I’ve seen the sheer volume of junior players in Warren County and we wanted to try to bring our tour to them to provide competitive opportunities,” Willow said. “With former Dragons coach Dan Passmore taking over at Blueberry Hill GC with longtime pro Gary McCullough’s move to Conewango Valley CC, this season seemed the perfect time to expand our reach.”
The tour, based in Erie, has attracted players from Erie, Warren, Clarion, Mercer and Crawford counties and from as far away as Pittsburgh and Raleigh, North Carolina. The first Warren County event, the 2023 GLJGT Conewango Shore Tournament, began Monday at Conewango Valley CC and finishes today at Lakeshore Country Club in Fairview.
The tour comes back at the end of the month for the 2023 GLJGT Blueberry Grove Tournament. Day one is scheduled for Blueberry Hill GC on Sunday, July 30 and day two will take place at Grove City CC on Monday, July 31.
