Sheffield boys, Eisenhower girls win on Wolverine Mountain

SHEFFIELD — Sheffield’s boys dominated 107-34, while the girls lost a close battle 69-64 Thursday afternoon as the Wolverines hosted Eisenhower in a cross-county track and field matchup.
The Wolverine boys won all three relays, going uncontested in the 3,200-meter relay. The boys swept seven events against the Knights.
Eisenhower’s lone running winner was Joe Mistretta in the 400 meters (55.99 seconds).
Sheffield senior Collin Brown tied at the top with freshman teammate Lamont Thomas in the 100 meters (12.14 seconds). Brown also won the 200 meters (24.96 seconds), as well as being part of the winning 1,600-meter relay (4:07) and 400-meter relay (47.71 seconds).
Lucas McNeal, who also ran the 400-meter relay, took first in long jump (16-11.5).

Eisenhower’s Benji Bauer won both the triple jump (36-10) and shot put (39-0). Knights’ Caleb Penley won discus (119-3) by over 20 feet.
On the girls side, Eisenhower’s Marissa Gourley won both the 110-meter hurdles (18.08 seconds) and 300-meter hurdles (53.9 seconds). The Knights also took two of three relays, the 3,200-meter relay (13:09) and 1,600-meter relay (5:03).
The Wolverines swept the jumping events, with Kassidy Orinko winning the long jump (14-5) and triple jump (30-3), then taking second only to teammate Emily Foster (4-11) in the high jump.
