Knights 1-2 in shot put

FRANKLIN — The Eisenhower Knights competed in the Franklin Invitational over the weekend, and despite a cold, damp day, managed to have some outstanding efforts from both the boys and girls.
The lone first place for the Lady Knights went to Logan Grove, who won the shot put with a throw of 33 feet, 6 inches. Teammate Mackenzie Dunn took second place in the shot put at 32 feet, 3 inches.
Grove also took second in the javelin with a toss of 90 feet, 10 inches.
Also on the girls side, Emily Grosch had a nice day, placing fifth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:49.76. Grosch was also a member of the fifth-place 1,600-meter relay team that finished in 5:00.77. She was joined by Maddie Cathcart, Sophia Martin and Peyton Kellogg.
Grosch also was a member of the fifth-place 3,200-meter relay team that finished in 12:15. There, she was joined by Cathcart, Kellogg and Adrianna Bango.
Marissa Gourley placed in both hurdle events taking second place in the 300-meter hurdles and third in the 100-meter hurdles with times of 53.37 seconds and 18.67 seconds, respectively. She also was part of the fifth-place 400-meter relay team that finished in 58.38 seconds. Gourley was joined by Cathcart, Martin and Gracie Tommasonni.
Martin took fourth place in the pole vault at 7 feet, 6 inches.
On the boys side, teammates Mikael Beaver (25.18 seconds) and Ryan Chambers (25.27 seconds) finished in fifth and sixth place, respectively, in the 200 meters. Both were also members of the third-place 400-meter relay team along with teammates Benji Bauer and Bryceton Wilkins that finished in 47.79 seconds.
Joe Mistretta took fifth place in the 400 meters with a time of 56.63 seconds.
Bauer had a nice day in the field events by placing third in the triple jump at 37 feet, 10 inches and sixth in the high jump at 5 feet, 1 inch. He also placed sixth in the shot put with a heave of 36 feet 9 inches.
Chambers also finished in sixth place in the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, 5¢ inches, while Wilkins placed fourth in the high jump when he cleared 5 feet, 3 inches.
