Ike softball posts 14-0 win over rival Youngsville

YOUNGSVILLE — Eisenhower took the short trip to Youngsville on Monday and beat the rival Eagles 14-0 in Region 2 softball action.

The Knights got on the board in the second inning when a Youngsville error pushed a run across the plate.

Eisenhower would add five runs in the seventh inning. Cali Chapman had a single to get the scoring started. Tracey Jakubczack’s infield grounder got another run in followed by a single by Lillian Smyth and a double by Emilie Jones.

Samantha Childs got the start for the Knights and earned the win by going the distance, giving up zero runs while yielding seven hits with eight strikeouts.

Eisenhower scattered 17 hits in the game. Payton Frank, Julia Gesing, Childs and Jones each had multiple hits for the Knights, led by Jones, who went 3 for 5 with a double and three RBIs, and Frank, who went 4 for 5 with two RBIs.

The Eagles did not help themselves as they struggled in the field with 10 errors. Youngsville also stranded 10 runners.
