HERMITAGE — Warren’s boys tennis team is 4-0 in Region 1 and 6-2 overall after a 4-1 win on Friday at Hickory.

At No. 1 singles, Logan Fincher earned a hard-fought victory over Hickory’s Jake Jarzab, 4-6, 6-0, 6-0. At No. 2, Warren’s Mark Lynds beat Blake Herring, 6-1, 6-1. Abe Wolf also had a three-set win at third singles, 6-2, 0-6, 6-2, over Hickory’s CJ Myers.

At top doubles, Warren’s Adam Strandburg and Hugh Harrison kept the three-set matches going with a 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 win over Spielvogic and Trevor Borowicz. Warren’s lone loss came at No. 2 doubles in, again, a three-set match. Brody Alexander and Carson Moore lost to Hickory’s Jake Scarvell and Noah Belcher, 4-6, 6-0, 3-6.

“(It was a) really solid match with a great region opponent,” said Warren coach Travis Myler, whose Dragons are 6-2 overall. “They are well-coached and knew our team well. We respect what they do. They are always a good match and tested us on almost every court.”
