RUSSELL — When Youngsville and Eisenhower meet, it is always for bragging rights between the county rivals.
On Friday, the Knights came out on top of the visiting Eagles 11-1 in Region 2 action at Werner Park.
Eisenhower jumped out to an early lead in the bottom half of the first inning on singles by Kailee Morrison, Samantha Childs and Alexis Pascuzzi to open up a 3-0 lead.
Childs started in the circle for the Knights and pitched the first two innings before being relieved by Emilie Jones, who went the rest of the way without allowing a run.
Jones got out of a bases-loaded jam in the third inning when the Eagles loaded the bases with two outs. Jones got a strikeout to end the threat.
The Knights added a run in the fourth inning when Jones tripled to drive in Gesing, who reached on a single.
Eisenhower did the most damage in the bottom of the sixth inning when it scored six runs. Jones stayed hot by doubling in Gesing. Childs singled to right driving in two more runs. Singles by Cali Chapman, Lillian Smyth and Gesing added three more runs to make it 11-1 and the game was called at the point.
“It was a good game by all of the girls,” Eisenhower head coach Rich Pascuzzi said. “We finally strung some hits together to get our base runners in to score. I thought Samantha pitched well and Emilie just shut them down. I’m happy for the girls.”
Eisenhower pounded out 18 hits and Youngsville finished with eight.
