SHEFFIELD — Sheffield, trying to bounce back from a 41-28 loss to cross-county rival Youngsville on Wednesday afternoon, found themselves down 19-2 to visiting DuBois Central Catholic before losing 37-31 on Thursday.
The Wolverines went on a 12-6 run led by John Whipple in the second quarter to pull within seven.
Coming out of the half down 21-15, Sheffield found itself struggling on offense again, with the Wolverines’ only points of the quarter coming off a Blake Silvis 3-pointer. The Cardinals held a 30-18 lead going into the fourth. Sheffield was able to once again battle back, with Reed Grubbs dropping nine of the Wolverines 16, but the DuBois lead was too much. The Cardinals defeated the Wolverines 37-31.
Whipple finished with a team leading 11 points to go with Grubbs’ 9 and James Chapman’s 6. Silvis rounded out the scoring with 5.
