Dragons even region record with road win over Conneaut

LINESVILLE — Warren’s boys basketball team pulled away from Conneaut in the second quarter on its way to a 78-49 Region 6 win on Friday at Conneaut Area Senior High School.

“It’s good to even out our region record as we look to take on Titusville and Oil City next week,” said Warren coach Jeff Berdine, whose Dragons are 8-5 overall and 1-1 in the region. “It was a fast start with our pressure tonight that melted away due to foul trouble and the inside play of (Tristan Shelatz) for Conneaut. In the second half, I thought we did a good job limiting them to one shot and really getting out in transition on their misses. Foul trouble again tonight had me play some different combinations, (but) I thought we got some good minutes off of our bench.”

Nine Dragons scored points with Brady Berdine and Parks Ordiway putting up 21 and 20 points, respectively. Point guard Tommy Nyquist added 13 points while distributing the ball effectively for Warren.

Shelatz finished with 16 points for Conneaut (2-10 overall and 0-2 in the region), but had one field goal in the second half.

In the junior varsity game, Chase Sitler had 29 points through three quarters in a 52-20 Warren win.
