After losing two of the best players in program history to graduation, Warren head coach Lisa LaVan knows it’s going to take time.
“We can get there,” said LaVan after the Dragons’ 63-45 loss on Saturday to Punxsutawney in the tip-off tourney championship at Warren Area High School. “We are inexperienced and need floor time. Lots of it.”
Warren — with a roster that includes just one senior — was outscored 19-8 in the second quarter and 18-8 in the fourth quarter of the day-two loss.
“Our youth showed tonight,” said LaVan. “Punxsy is a very good team. They were better than us tonight.”
Despite the loss, freshman Peyton Wotorson led Warren in scoring for the second straight night and was named to the all-tournament team. Wotorson scored 9 points and junior Halle Kuzminski — also all-tourney — added 8 points.
