COCHRANTON — And on to the District 10 finals.

Warren’s volleyball team lost to Meadville in the regular season. On Thursday, the Dragons swept the Bulldogs in the D10 3A playoff semifinals.

“We came out with confidence, which will be key on Saturday no matter who we play,” said Warren coach Mike Dolan of the Dragons’ 25-22, 25-11, 29-27 victory at Cochranton High School.

“(It was a) team effort tonight,” he said. “Lindsay (Madigan) did a terrific job distributing the ball.”

Madigan finished with 31 assists and seven digs. Alexia Bowers had 11 kills and 10 digs; Carly Beers nine kills and two aces; Kylie Fehlman seven kills; Maddy Jones five kills, five aces and three blocks; Kirsten Johnson two kills, two aces and four blocks; and Summer Lucks 24 digs, four assists and two aces.

“Summer’s defense and passing gave us tons of chances to attack,” said Dolan. “We got down a couple times in the third set, but they hung tough and once again made plays when we needed them. Kirsten was tough at the net and serving. Kylie took some great swings and the pin hitters were really good — Carly, Alexia, and Maddy Jones on the attack. Maddy’s clutch serving was key and Carly and Alexia with some big swings.”

Warren will take on Conneaut in Saturday’s final after the Eagles swept Hickory in Thursday’s second semifinal at Cochranton.

Starting at $3.50/week.
