Knights have strong week in track

The Eisenhower boys and girls track teams had a busy week with meets against Meadville on Tuesday and Saturday at the Franklin invitational.

For the girls against Meadville, a 95-51 loss for the Knights, four girls turned in a combined five first-place finishes.

Rosalie Rondeau won the long jump at 14 feet, 6.5 inches, and the triple jump at 31 feet, 3.33 inches. Laney Belcher won the 400 meters in 1:02.5, Hialeah Stanton won the pole vault at 7 feet, and Riley Robinault claimed the high jump at 4 feet, 8 inches.

In the boys meet against Meadville, which the Knights lost 86-55, four boys won a combined six events.

Chase Myers won the 110-meter hurdles in 15.54 seconds and the 300-meter hurdles in 42.64 seconds. Ethan Beers took the high jump at 6 feet, 1 inch, and the triple jump at 43 feet, 8.75 inches. Joe Gigliotti captured the 1,600 meters in 4:32.4 and Alex VanGelder won the discus at 131 feet.

On Saturday, the boys team was trailing Northeast 113-112 heading into the javelin throw which was the last event of the day at the Franklin Invitational. Northeast placed second, which awarded the Grape Pickers 8 points, leading to a 122-113 title.

For the boys, first-place finishers were: Myers in the 110-meter hurdles (15.28), Gigliotti in the 1,600 meters (4:42.13) and 3,200 meters (10:05.5), and Beers in the triple jump (44-7). The Eisenhower boys 3,200-meter relay team of Parker McBride, Alex Lund, Joe Gigliotti and Isaiah Reagle finished in second place, but their time qualified them for districts.
