In a battle of one-loss teams in Region 4, Seneca outlasted Warren 2-0 on Thursday to take sole possession of first place.
The Dragons shut Seneca out 2-0 earlier this season at Seneca, and the Bobcats returned the favor in Warren’s first match at refurbished War Memorial Field.
Seneca scored early in the first half on a breakaway and held that lead through halftime, adding its insurance goal late in the match.
“Tough loss,” said Warren coach Denny Flatt. “Seneca is a quality team and tonight they beat us. We went into Seneca and beat them 2-0 and they came here and returned the favor tonight. It’s disappointing, but we still have our eyes on the playoffs and getting deep into them.”
Class 1A Seneca is now 8-1 in the region and Class 2A Warren falls to 8-2.
