Warren girls post win, Bickling sets record
TITUSVILLE — Warren’s girls soccer team took a big step forward in a 9-0 non-region win on Saturday at Titusville.
The Dragons’ second victory of the season came with an added bonus — senior Georgie Bickling broke the program record for career assists with 86. She had three goals and three assists on Saturday, breaking her sister Mackenzie Bickling’s school assists record in the process.
“It was never a goal from the start, but as it got closer, being my sister’s record, it was something that I wanted to break,” said Georgie. “It was a great way to start my senior year and I’m excited to do so much more with this team.”
“This team…” — now 2-2 overall — got four goals from freshman Meea Irwin and another goal and three assists from her freshman twin sister, Leyna.
“Leyna also had three or four other shots on goal that the keeper saved,” said Warren coach Jeremy Bickling. “Credit to the Titusville keeper; she stopped 29 shots.
“Seniors Lauren Andersen and Audrey Smith, our two holding midfielders, were instrumental in gaining and retaining possession for us,” added coach Bickling.
Andersen and Ella Ordiway had assists in the win, and Ella Getner scored a goal.
“(This game) was a big step to becoming the team we can be,” said Bickling. “This doesn’t fix things or mean we are close… just closer. Seeing things work and having success executing is a huge boost after two rough losses.
“As a coach, I respect any player willing to commit to them team’s success first versus their own,” Bickling said of Georgie’s milestone. “As a father, I’m very proud that my two daughters have played a huge part in this program’s success and the success of their teammates.”

Warren’s junior varsity defeated the Huskies, 1-0, following the varsity match. Brody Alexander assisted Jack Chapman on the lone goal. Jack Lynds kept a clean sheet in net with a little help from defender Adon Maier, clearing a near goal.
