Bauer power
Senior scores 5 TDs in Ike win
Eisenhower moved to 4-0 on the season, but it was a battle all the way.
Benji Bauer rushed for 212 yards on 20 carries and scored five touchdowns as the Knights continued their domination on the ground en route to a 46-34 victory over Seneca on Friday night.
“This was a good win for us against a good, explosive team,” Eisenhower head coach Jim Penley said. “The first three quarters showed just what we are capable of.”
The Knights, who also received 83 yards rushing and a TD from Keegan Eckstrom, 54 yards on the ground and another score from Shawn Pascuzzi and 36 yards rushing from Tucker Lindell, led 33-14 at halftime and built the margin to as much as 46-14 after the break.
“I just thought we played a smart game, pretty much shutting down their option game,” Penley said. “We made some mistakes. We have to fix things, but this game was a good win for us.”
Bauer was more than good last night, scoring on TD runs of 1, 15, 53, 1 and 20 yards; Eckstrom found paydirt from 50 yards; and Pascuzzi reached the end zone on a 58-yard scamper.
“I just cannot say enough about our offensive line,” Penley said. “They opened some massive holes for Benji and Tucker.”
Seneca quarterback Nolan Seabury connected on 17 of 32 passes for 240 yards and a touchdown to Collin Libra, who finished with 11 receptions for 170 yards. Seabury also ran for two scores.
