SMITHFIELD — Chase Card picked just the right time to be perfect.

Competing in Archery Shooter’s Association Pennsylvania State Championships, the 11-year-old from Scandia came home with a state title.

The course consisted of 40 3D animal targets set throughout the woods at various distances. The format was for each competitor to shoot two rounds at 20 targets per round.

In the first round, Card picked up four bonus points to go along with a perfect score, giving him a total of 204. After a short break, his number was called for round two. Once again, Card was perfect, finishing with 200 and giving him a commanding hold on the lead with a total score of 404.

Card will now move on to the final leg of the International Bowhunters Association triple crown in Nelsonville, Ohio where he will be shooting against the top 10 in his age group. Card will be seeded sixth.

For those interested in following his journey, or in learning more about his competition, Card can be found on his Facebook page, “Chasen’ the wild.”

Starting at $3.50/week.
