Oldtimers lose two games in Greenville, West Virginia

GREENVILLE, Pa. — The Jamestown and Area Oldtimers dropped a pair of games last weekend, falling to Greenville, Pennsylvania 4-0 and losing to Chester, West Virginia 9-6.

In the first game, Greenville (5-3) scored three runs in the first inning, which held up the rest of the way.

The Jamestown and Area Oldtimers’ only scoring threats came in the first inning when they left two runners on base and in the seventh inning when they left the bases loaded.

Dave Wortman had three singles to lead the Jamestown and Area Oldtimers’ offensive attack.

In the second game, the Jamestown and Area Oldtimers trailed Chester 7-0 after three innings against former Jamestown Expo Billy Satler (1979), but they closed to within 7-5, highlighted by Brian Swanson’s two-out, three-run double.

Chester, however, added two runs in the fifth. Jamestown and Area Oldtimers scored a run in the sixth to close out the scoring.

Swanson finished with two hits and three RBIs.

The Jamestown and Area Oldtimers return to action at 11 a.m. Sunday when they entertain South Hills at Diethrick Park.
