Tarp Skunks post road win
AUBURN, N.Y. — Ian Korn gave up three runs in the bottom of the first inning of Wednesday’s Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League game.
He was tremendous for the next six innings, though, and the Jamestown Tarp Skunks were the beneficiaries as they rallied for a 4-3 victory over Auburn before 2,003 fans.
In earning the win, Korn gave up seven hits, struck out six and walked three. Eddie Galatas worked the eighth inning and Eric Crouse earned the save by striking out the side in the ninth.
Padraig O’Shaughnessy (double) and Mark Tucker each had two hits; and Tucker, Brandon Lane and Johnny Kampes drove in a run apiece for the Tarp Skunks (3-2).
Cooper Erickson and Michael Cervantes both had two hits, and Cervantes and Blake Murray each drove in a run. Bobby Curry, one of four pitchers, suffered the loss, surrendering two runs in the eighth inning.
Defensively, the Tarp Skunks didn’t commit an error a day after making six miscues in a road loss to Batavia.
Jamestown is off today. It will be back in action Friday at Batavia before returning home for a 6:30 p.m. game on Saturday against Utica.
