Youngsville athletes thrive in Slippery Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK — At Slippery Rock University on Saturday, nine different Youngsville Eagles earned their way to medals and a few to districts as well.

The distance duo of freshman Cassidy Britton and Julia Bojaczko placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 1,600 meters. Britton clocked in at 5:55.32 while Bojaczko was right behind with 5:56.14.

The pair missed districts by less than 2 seconds in the 1,600 meters and were sure to qualify for the district meet in the 3,200 meters. Again, Britton and Bojaczko placed sixth and seventh, respectively, with times of 12:56.66 and 13:07.19.

Also receiving medals on the track were Angelina Sabella in the 100-meter dash (14.05) running herself to a sixth-place finish.

Koby Hendrickson earned himself a couple of medals, taking fifth place in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 18.33.

Hendrickson was also part of the 400-meter relay team, which secured seventh place at 48.31. Other legs of the relay included Dawson Burt, Talon Mesel and dual spring athlete Ethan Senz, who earned himself a medal on the track and a couple of hours later was on the baseball field at Cochranton.

In the field events, Mia Rafalski placed sixth in the shot put earning herself a new personal record of 28 feet, one-quarter inch.

Blake Myers also used his talent to take home two medals in the high jump at 5-5 and long jump at 19-4.5 where he placed eighth and fifth, respectively.
